We're getting closer, infinitely closer

I was listening to TMBG, as I was ironing my clothes this morning. All of a sudden, the word popped into my head: asymptotic. Aha! That's the word.

Yesterday, I was telling Shaun who was not so impressed by 0.66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666, (2/3) that they should start celebrating n-1/n meaning 3/4, 4/5, 5/6, 6/7 ...999,999/1,000,000 anniversaries. That way they could get infinitely closer to that magical and elusive 1/1. They would never quite reach it. But, I couldn't remember the word for it.

How legitimate is 2/3s anyway? On the one hand, every passing moment is special. Yet, on the other hand, when you are thinking in terms of lifetimes and eternities, those pesky months just get in the way. Yet, on the other hand, each one of those pesky months represents sharing, growing, overcoming. On the other hand, one (or two) should not belittle the passing of time in the fortress fending off all those disuniters by suggesting paper or leather gifts. On the other hand, how many hands can two people have? I hope the gift conveys meaning, because I certainly don't, if you know what I mean. Here is SCTV's film on monthly anniversaries.

Aha, asymptotic. Feel the irony.

There's Something Funny With my Chicken

SCTV - Chickadee Chickette Chicken Style Loaf

I must admit, there are some mighty funny Canucs out there. Andrea Martin is one of them. You see her here doing a commercial for SCTV. Many a funny person have launched their carreer with this comedy troop.

Improv can be a difficult genre. Of course ther is the hit and miss problems. But another is longevity. I think that one of the reason it is funny, is because it is on everybody's mind. But with the passing of time, we change our minds, that is, we are occupied with other thoughts. Then when we go back to them with fond memories we come away thinking, "it wasnt that funny."

Take me for example, please, take me. ha ha. But, no, really, sometimes I start laughing at something funny and by the time I stop laughing, I cant remember what I was laughing at.

On the other hand, this could be considered more scary than funny.

Flecks

As I chat with some of the old timers and reminisce about the times and speculating on future events (read "weddings"). Although they are the ones who are in such exotic places such as Hazy Ester, Thar Be, Moon Bay, Ed Mountain, Nether Nether Land, Port Principessa, I've been asked to reflect on last months events.

I don't reflect very well, even though, there is even more of me to reflect. Yes, when all else fails, eat. Not out of nervousness. Nor out of boredom. But, as a way to fellowship with your fellow arcmates (spell check suggests "arachnids").

And of course, there is the "safe room." But this is a different kind than can be recalled by those inhabitants of recent years. No plastic covering all the air holes. No more supplies of tuna. No gas masks. No atropine syringes. Just a room with no windows, or smallish windows facing as south as possible.

Both of my readers may think this is boring. I agree, its just not an interesting topic. Chow.

Carpe Incendia

So, hows it going? I imagine, that soon things will be getting back to normal. And yet, again, I find myself asking, "What is 'normal'"? The statistical meaning, seemed to be the best. Although, because, I am feeling a bit cynical, I may opt for the mathematical definition.

On a similar topic, if you can bear the company, we can go for a cynic walk together. Just kidding, I will try to be more pleasant than that.

I found it! I found it!

Good news everybody! I found my coffee cup. I lost it on the first day of the, um, conflict. It was in ISD pantry. It still had coffee in it. Who knew that you could make tadik with coffee?
