Did you hear about...

Did you hear about the jogger who ran into a chain-link fence?

In and Out

In and Out walk into a bar... Oh, wait, I was gonna write something serious.

So, what I want to talk to you about is something gleaned from a quite mundane experience. So, it happened thus. I get on an elevator. And I try to show off a quote I learned in Persian. This is the English translation: "A harsh word is like unto a sword, but gentle speech is like unto milk." (Baha'u'llah, Baha'i Scriptures, p. 132)

So, the situation arose when I realized that I couldn't remember the words. Fairly ordinary, no? When you know something but cant remember the words. With the promptings of P, I was reminded of the words and they all came out in mostly the right form and order, eventually.

So, "what has this little episode relate to life and what kind of information did you glean from it?", you maybe asking yourself or more probably me via your computer screen.

So, In and Out walk into a bar. Yet, their names belie their status.

So, I realized that I do this a lot. Not just with quotes in Persian where I don't know the words. But, I take in a variety of things: news, current events, technical theories and practical details, history, impressions and feelings (some may argue that I don't take them in but they are already inside - you can argue with me via your monitor all you want), and sundry pieces of information. And that which I don't forget, I tend to forget the words. Because words are what gets them in. But, I don't have the word to get them out.

So, in a nutshell, what goes in does not come out. Makes for dull conversations. But, I am good at keeping secrets.

So, In and Out walk into a bar. Bartender asks, "what are you having?" Out says, "an existential crisis." In says, "Deja Vu."

Happy Birthday Gregory

Read about Pope Gregory XIII 's changes to the world - or at least on of them. Oh, yeah, its not really his birthday.
