We're getting closer, infinitely closer
Yesterday, I was telling Shaun who was not so impressed by 0.66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666, (2/3) that they should start celebrating n-1/n meaning 3/4, 4/5, 5/6, 6/7 ...999,999/1,000,000 anniversaries. That way they could get infinitely closer to that magical and elusive 1/1. They would never quite reach it. But, I couldn't remember the word for it.
How legitimate is 2/3s anyway? On the one hand, every passing moment is special. Yet, on the other hand, when you are thinking in terms of lifetimes and eternities, those pesky months just get in the way. Yet, on the other hand, each one of those pesky months represents sharing, growing, overcoming. On the other hand, one (or two) should not belittle the passing of time in the fortress fending off all those disuniters by suggesting paper or leather gifts. On the other hand, how many hands can two people have? I hope the gift conveys meaning, because I certainly don't, if you know what I mean. Here is SCTV's film on monthly anniversaries.
Aha, asymptotic. Feel the irony.
